The Department of Western Languages and Literatures, founded in 2007, consists of the Departments of English Language and Literature and German Language and Literature. The academic staff consists of two Associate Professors, two Assistant Professors, one lecturer, and four research assistants.

The aim of the English Language and Literature program is to train contemporary philologists, who are equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to serve in all areas of English Philology, who have internalised ethical values, who are aware of world realities and who have adopted the importance of lifelong learning. Our department aims to provide students with advanced language skills, literary concepts, literary history, theories of literature and criticism, and professional competence in the field of culture.

Graduates of the Department of English Language and Literature have job opportunities in various public institutions, such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of National Education, publishing houses, literary and cultural journals and international organizations, institutions and projects related to the European Community. Graduates can work as interpreters and translators in various fields with the translation skills they have acquired in the department. They can also work in the tourism sector. They can work as teachers in public and private institutions by obtaining a formation certificate. Graduates of the department can continue their careers in the academic field (Master's and PhD level) and continue their scientific studies in the field.

Our department accepts students with DİL-1 score type and has a quota of 60 students. The language of instruction of the program is English and the duration of study consists of a four-year period spread over eight semesters.

Our department does not yet have Master's and Doctorate programs, and studies are ongoing to open graduate programs.
